J'aime par amour

Overview of the Franco-Flemish school

The 15th and 16th centuries saw the development, first in the Netherlands and France and then throughout Europe, of a musical style known as the Franco-Flemish school. Benefiting from the advantages of the nascent printing press, the multiple generations of composers who succeeded one another within this school created a refined polyphonic style that would unify all of Western Europe.

The program "J'aime par amour" (I love for love), which mixes sacred and secular pieces, explores the different facets of this repertoire through a flute consort, offering pieces that go from the end of the Middle Ages to the late Renaissance.
